Meet Joe O’Brien, AquaShield™ representative in MI, OH and IN.
For Joe O’Brien, switching careers from environmental consulting to AquaShield™ sales representative was an easy and logical choice. In the few years before the switch, Joe dealt primarily with projects related to the emerging stormwater industry, which made him quite knowledgeable of the various treatment technologies available at the time. Joe also knew that he had a knack for sales. He finally reached a point where it was time to make a career change from consulting to sales by opening his own business, and focusing on the expanding stormwater industry. Joe’s plan to grow his new business was to represent a line of stormwater treatment products that were simple in design, tough, and provided consistent and reliable service. After thoroughly evaluating the manufactured systems in use at the time, Joe eagerly accepted the opportunity to represent the AquaShield™ brand of products.
Clients are very important to Joe and he is very committed to taking care of their needs. He backs that up by understanding their projects, assisting with product selection and the sizing process, providing timely and accurate quotes, following up on inquires, or attending pre-construction meetings. Joe diligently researches industry trends to ensure that customers stay up to date with the wide variety of issues that arise within the stormwater community. This allows him to demonstrate how AquaShield™ continues to develop innovative and effective products in response to the many challenges that are constantly presented to the industry. And it doesn’t stop there; “I really like serving clients,” he says. When someone buys an AquaShield™ product, they’re buying our service as much as the product itself. It’s very important to recognize that and continue our commitment to them”. Engineers, contractors and regulators will call with questions, and it’s not uncommon to do an overnight trip to show them how to maintain our system, explain how it works, or describe its benefits. I like taking care of clients. Joe’s best selling product is the Aqua-Swirl™ “simply because there’s more demand for the Aqua-Swirl™ in this region. I was attracted to the Aqua-Swirl™ because of its small footprint and simplicity of design. Also, AquaShield™’s product line represents the three basic technologies available in stormwater quality treatment today.” He stands solidly behind the Aqua-Swirl™ foreseeing a long-term future in its sales, “…it has a lot of merit, it’s competitive in price, it’s easy and inexpensive to install, it’s easy to maintain, and it utilizes the most cost effective treatment technology available (swirl technology) for removal of pollutants in stormwater. I think it’s going to be here a long time”. AquaShield™’s strong product line was only part of the reason Joe chose to represent them. He says “The products are just a small piece of it.” He was primarily attracted to AquaShield™ based on the solid and trusting relationship that management had established with him and their other sales agents.
